LOEX of the West 2010 is looking for volunteers!

LOEX of the West 2010 is looking for volunteers!
As many of you know, Mount Royal Library will be hosting the LOEX of the West conference from June 10-12. This is a great opportunity to participate in an international conference about information literacy.

We are currently seeking volunteers for the following positions. If you would like to volunteer , please contact Cari Merkley at cmerkley@mtroyal.ca as soon as possible with the following information:

1. Type of volunteer position(s) that interest you
2. Hour(s) that you are available on June 10, 11, and/or 12.

Volunteers who complete two hours of volunteer time will be entitled to attend one LOEX session of their choice (space permitting). Room monitors will have the opportunity to attend the session they are facilitating, as well as one additional session if they volunteer two hours of their time. Light refreshments will be available.

Volunteer Positions Available

Registration Desk
Your role: To check participants in and provide them with conference information, and to answer general questions about the conference, the campus and Calgary. The desk will be especially busy on Thursday and Friday morning as participants arrive.

We are looking for registration volunteers for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

Residence
Your role: To be the friendly face greeting weary travellers as they arrive at the Mount Royal residence to check into their rooms. You may need to answer questions about the conference and to provide directions from the residence to other conference locations (e.g. the Roddy Mah Centre).

We are looking for residence volunteers for Thursday, June from noon to 9 pm. Be prepared to fly solo (although residence staff will be on hand to do the actual room check-in).

Room Monitor (Classroom)
Your role: To facilitate the presentation taking place in the classroom to which you are assigned. This position requires a wee bit of public speaking, as you will be introducing the speaker and thanking them at the end of the presentation. You will also be called upon to help the presenter get the computer workstation and projector up and running, although there will be IT help on hand in case of emergency.

We are looking for volunteers for Friday and Saturday. You do not have to be a registered conference participant to volunteer for this role, and as a bonus you will have the opportunity to attend the conference session you are facilitating for free.

involve running (or at least moving swiftly) between venues.

We are looking for runners for Friday and Saturday.
